How Long Will It Take to Charge My Electric Vehicle?
Battery Capacity
The larger the battery capacity, the longer it takes to charge. A higher-capacity battery will store more energy but will also require more time to fill up.
Charging Speed
Charging speed is typically measured in kilowatts (kW). The faster the charging speed, the quicker your EV will charge. Common levels of charging include Level 1 (120V, slow), Level 2 (240V, moderate), and DC Fast Charging (varying voltages and amperages, very fast).
State of Charge
If your battery is nearly empty, it will take longer to charge compared to a partially depleted battery. Many EVs have faster charging rates when the battery is at a lower state of charge and slows down as they approach full capacity.
Charger Type
The type of charger you use can significantly impact charging time. Home chargers (Level 1 and Level 2) are typically slower than public DC Fast Chargers.
Our technicians use DC Fast Chargers, which can provide 60-100 miles of range in just 20-30 minutes, depending on the charger’s power and your EV’s capability. However, charging slows down as the battery reaches a higher state of charge.
The specific charging time for your EV will depend on its battery size, the charger type, and the state of charge when you begin charging.
The bottom line? We will charge your car as quickly as we can. So, there may be a wait but we will get the job done as fast as possible.
